Job summary

Otterbein SeniorLife is seeking an Intake & Authorization Coordinator to support home health and hospice services. You will handle intake calls, referrals, insurance authorizations, and admission documentation to ensure a swift start of care.

The role requires attention to detail, familiarity with EMR systems, and strong communication with patients, families, and referral sources. Eligible candidates have at least 1 year of admissions/administrative experience.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in admissions, authorization, or administrative roles preferred.
• Familiarity with EMR and healthcare systems (Allscripts, Trella Health, PCC, MatrixCare, Careficient) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer intake calls with urgency and professionalism.
• Coordinate and process referrals, insurance authorizations, and admissions details.
• Gather required patient information and enter into EMR accurately.
• Assemble and manage start-of-care (SOC) or admission packets.
• Notify patients of out-of-pocket costs and collect payments as needed.
• Manage the MSP (Medicare Secondary Payer) process.
• Verify payer coverage and maintain eligibility records.
• Upload and manage documents and physician orders in the EMR.
• Support time-sensitive information including benefit periods and forms.
• Deliver or pick up documentation from referral sources as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and compliance of patient records.
• Stay current on mandatory training and participate in compliance projects.
• Assist with other team members and support projects.
