Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking an Admissions Counselor I to serve as a primary contact for prospective students and families. You will guide applicants through admissions, enrollment, and pathways, representing UT Austin in person and virtually across territory.

You will use data and relationships to plan recruitment activities, collaborate with campus partners, and support orientation and first-year programs while traveling to engage schools and communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience providing customer service and advising students.
• Experience delivering presentations to varied audiences.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and travel commitments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRMs, or related databases.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet driving requirements.

Responsibilities

• Advise prospective students, applicants, admitted students, and families throughout the admissions process.
• Respond to questions via phone, email, virtual engagement, and in-person meetings with guidance.
• Use territory data and priorities to plan and evaluate recruitment activities.
• Represent UT Austin at high school, community college, and on-campus recruitment events.
• Support Orientation, First-Year Experience, and pathway programs as assigned.
• Travel frequently within the assigned territory and drive as needed.
• Present clear information about undergraduate opportunities and enrollment processes.
• Tailor outreach to students, families, counselors, and partners.
• Maintain regular communication and share feedback with the Senior Program Coordinator.
• Maintain timely records of student interactions in Slate.
• Review applications and meet productivity and confidentiality expectations.
• Participate in scholarship review as assigned.
