Job summary

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) seeks an Administrative Horticulturalist for the Green Infrastructure Maintenance Program. Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree in horticulture, arboriculture, or landscape architecture with four years of horticultural experience, including two years in supervisory/administrative/management roles.
• Alternatively, a high school diploma or recognized equivalent with one year of supervisory/administrative/management experience and an approved equivalent.
• Candidates must meet permanent Administrative Horticulturist eligibility or have filed for DCAS Exam #6005.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee development and progress of horticultural green infrastructure activities citywide.
• Develop and negotiate contracts, determine costs, time estimates, and funding sources for maintenance related to green infrastructure projects.
• Direct a staff of project management professionals to ensure timely and cost-effective implementation of major green infrastructure projects.
• Oversee green infrastructure maintenance projects from initiation to completion.
• Manage project planning, budgets, scope, vendor procurement, design and construction management, and project close-outs.
• In the temporary absence of the supervisor, may assume duties of that position.

Education
