Job summary

North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is seeking an Administrative Associate II (S) at Greene Correctional Institution to oversee the Inmate Trust Fund processes and related support tasks.

You will process daily inmate banking actions, handle requests, prepare reports, and work with staff across levels to ensure accurate accounting and timely payments.

Qualifications

  • High school or GED diploma and one year of administrative experience or equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

  • Process the Daily Inmate Trust Fund actions for inmate accounts in the Inmate Banking System in OPUS, print checks, process daily bank deposits and prepare daily release funds and debit cards
  • Process inmate requests which may include obtaining money orders and bus tickets
  • Process DC-440's for Inmate Welfare Expenditures
  • Complete several reports and respond to inmate inquiries and grievances
  • Work independently to meet constant deadlines while performing several tasks simultaneously
  • Monitor the monthly telephone/cell phone bills for the facility and handle all GTL inquiries
  • Handle frequent contact with institutional staff regarding purchase orders and/or P-card purchases
  • Communicate well and work well with staff at all levels
  • Act as the backup for the Accounts Payable clerk and cross-train with this position in the NC E-Procurement system and NCAS system

It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work

This is an anticipated vacancy. This position is located at Greene Correctional Institution and oversees the Inmate Trust Fund procedures for the facility.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities / Management Preferences

Salary Range: $31,200 - $51,249. Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred: Documented ability to use computer for data entry.

The salary grade for this position is NC02. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase may result.

About the Division of Institutions

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

Veterans’ and National Guard Preference
