Responsibilities

Job Description Summary


The Advisor and CCP Liaison position provides and documents enrollment guidance and academic advising for potential and enrolled students through their first semester with the College, for most Applied Sciences or College Transfer programs, and until the point of program acceptance for pre-Allied Health and unclassified students. Understanding and interpreting placement, college policies, procedures, and degree requirements, and referring students to campus services as necessary, are key components of this role. Advisors may advise international students and/or assume a leadership role in a specific career area. They will serve as a point of contact between the academic department and advising in any specific career area to which they are assigned as the expert. The Advisor and CCP Liaison role also serves Dual Enrolled Career & College Promise ( CCP ) students in an assigned school(s) by providing advising and registration for students, following up on early alerts, acting as a communication and operational liaison between the College and the high school and maintaining documentation compliant with all NCCCS CCP regulations. This position requires intensive knowledge and understanding of placement, College policies and procedures, College resources, degree, certificate, and diploma requirements, NCCCS CCP eligibility requirements, and CCP pathways.



  1. Provides academic advising in multiple modalities from the point of student’s enrollment through assignment to faculty advisor including but not limited to the following: assistance with enrollment process as needed; program choice; course planning consistent with meeting student goals; registration assistance; referral to other campus resources as needed for support; and follow up on early alerts from faculty. Advising role includes 45% interpreting and communicating placement policy and options; explaining admission and program requirements needed for accurate course advisement; facilitation the application process for Selective and Limited programs; and the understanding and interpretation of the North Carolina Comprehensive Articulation Agreement ( CAA ), the Independent Comprehensive Articulation Agreement ( ICAA ), and the eight semester plans provided by the participating NC four-year universities.

  2. Advisors may assume a leadership role in an assigned career field and serve as a departmental resource and “expert” in advising for those programs as well as developing and maintains open communication with department chairs to ensure advising consistent with program requirements and periodic changes.

  3. Provides CCP advising and registration services in compliance with NCCCS CCP regulations. Responsibilities include advising students including first‑semester advising in most academic programs; interpreting and applying CCP admission and pathway eligibility requirements; ensuring all required documentation is submitted for admission and continued enrollment; and registering students for approved courses. The advisor will serve as a liaison between students, high school counselors, and A‑B Tech to coordinate registrations, early alerts, and course changes (drops or withdrawals) with school approval. This positions also supports communication between the College and secondary partners regarding class requests, technology, and textbook issues, and assists with onboarding new students in the use of college systems and digital tools.

  4. Serves as a CCP recruiter through participation in High School registration days, scholarship workshops, curriculum nights, and other school related recruiting activities. Participates in College open houses, resource fairs, campus tours and other enrollment recruiting activities as requested and available.

  5. Completes assignments related to the support of the department, strengthening advising materials, and increasing the accessibility and visibility of the department, as well as other duties as assigned.

  6. Contributes and adheres to the College Vision, Mission including RISE principles, Values, and Foundational Focus Areas.

  7. Supports workforce diversity in all its aspects.


Minimum Requirements (Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)



  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of full-time or equivalent experience providing services directly to students in a student services area in a higher education or high school setting or Master’s degree and one year of full-time or equivalent experience providing services directly to students in a student services area in a higher education or high school setting.

  • Experience in planning, organizing, and implementing educational programs and services.

  • Experience providing tracking and assessment to ensure quality of educational programs and services.

  • Experience maintaining documentation of services.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Master’s degree

  • Two years of full-time or equivalent community college student services experience.

  • One year of full-time or equivalent community college advising experience.

  • Experience with and working knowledge of secondary education standards in North Carolina.

  • Experience with and familiarity with service area public schools.

  • Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.
