Our client is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Accounting/Bookkeeper & Administrative Coordinator to support the financial and property operations of their organization in Detroit. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys variety and wants exposure to accounting, real estate, property operations, and redevelopment projects. Please note this position is a part time position working 24 hours a week.
What You'll Do
Accounting & Finance
- Manage day-to-day accounting activity, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, AP, AR, tenant invoicing, collections, and vendor payments.
- Maintain accurate QuickBooks records our client and their related projects.
- Monitor cash balances and assist with cash-flow reporting, budgets, and financial projections.
- Help prepare monthly financial reports and organize documentation for tax, audit, and year-end needs.
- Identify discrepancies and recommend improvements to accounting processes and financial workflows.
- Track project expenses, budgets, commitments, funding sources, and redevelopment activity.
- Assist with development pro formas, financial analysis, and construction cost tracking.
- Review construction payment applications and organize documentation for lenders, contractors, consultants, and title companies.
- Support lender, grant, and funding-partner reporting, including draw requests and reimbursements.
Property & Administrative Support
- Coordinate with tenants, vendors, contractors, consultants, and service providers regarding building operations, maintenance, scheduling, and follow-up items.
- Maintain organized financial, property, contract, invoice, and tenant records.
- Assist with meetings, reports, spreadsheets, correspondence, and other administrative projects.
- Track deadlines, renewals, action items, and outstanding requests to keep projects moving.
What Our client is looking For
- Prior experience in accounting, bookkeeping, property accounting, construction/development accounting, or finance administration.
- QuickBooks proficiency is required; QuickBooks certification is a plus.
- Working knowledge of AP, AR, reconciliations, general ledger activity, accrual accounting, and financial reporting.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace skills.
- Experience with budgets, cash flow, pro formas, construction draws, lender reporting, grants, tax preparation, or audits is a plus.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, real estate, construction management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and confidentiality.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating with leadership, accountants, lenders, vendors, contractors, tenants, and consultants.
