Job Summary
The Administrative Assistant position provides administrative support for faculty members in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. The individual also provides administrative support to the iMicro and BAMPS (Bay Area Microbial Pathogenesis Symposium) programs in the department. The position is a hybrid role which will require the employee to be on-site 5 days a week for the first month for on-site training and then transition to a hybrid schedule of Monday, Thursday and Friday remote, and Tuesday and Wednesday on-site. On-site days may increase depending on the needs of the unit.
Covered under University series concept / job specification for classification 4722. Under general direction works on operational and/or procedural assignments that require the exercise of considerable discretion and independent judgment. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $29.03 - $41.55 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description
The Department of Microbiology & Immunology is a basic science department within the School of Medicine that performs scientific research, training and teaching at Mission Bay and Parnassus Heights. Research in the department focuses on areas related to infectious diseases, immunology, and cancer. Our department also provides advanced research training to postdoctoral fellows and graduate students working towards their Ph.D. degrees.
The G.W. Hooper Research Foundation is an organized research unit within the Department of Microbiology & Immunology. We perform scientific research and training at Parnassus Heights.
The Parker Institute housed within the Department of Microbiology and Immunology includes six centers - UCSF, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Stanford Medicine, UCLA, the University of Pennsylvania and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The Parker Institute's goal is to accelerate the development of breakthrough immune therapies capable of turning cancer into a curable disease by ensuring the coordination and collaboration of the field's top researchers and quickly translating their findings into patient treatments.
