Job summary

The City of Laguna Beach is seeking a detail-oriented Administrative Analyst to provide high-level support to the Public Works & Utilities Department, focusing on administrative and analytical tasks to improve processes and coordinate department initiatives.

Key duties include drafting RFPs, contract management, project coordination, budget support, grants administration, and preparing agenda materials and reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level combination in public administration or related field.
  • Two years of journey-level administrative experience with data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience in government context is desirable.

Job description

The City of Laguna Beach is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Administrative Analyst to provide high-level support to the various maintenance divisions within the Public Works & Utilities Department. This position plays an important role in providing administrative and analytical support, coordinating department initiatives, and helping to improve organizational processes.

What You’ll Do
  • Develops RFPs and bid documents for new contract solicitations
  • Provides high-level support in the management of contracts and procurement processes
  • Coordinates special projects and department events
  • Assists in preparation of the department budget
  • Prepares and administers State and Federal grants, and participates in audits
  • Prepares graphs, charts, PowerPoint presentations, and agenda reports on programs and policies
  • Oversees departments’ records management processes

Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to effectively and successfully perform the duties of the position is considered qualifying. A typical combination is as follows:

Education

Graduation from a recognized college or university with major coursework in public administration, business administration, or a field related to Public Works.

Experience

Two (2) years of experience in a responsible journey-level technical or administrative capacity, which include responsibility for compiling and analyzing data, preparing reports, and making recommendations related to business processes and functions. Prior government experience is highly desirable.

Supplemental Information

This recruitment will establish an eligibility list that may be used to fill future vacancies in the same or lower classifications.
