Job summary

The City of Laguna Beach is seeking an Administrative Analyst to provide high-level support to the Public Works & Utilities Department, coordinating department initiatives and improving processes. This role emphasizes contract administration, budget assistance, and data-driven reporting.

Ideal candidates will have strong writing, analytical, and project coordination skills, plus proficiency with Microsoft Office. Government experience is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduation from a recognized college or university with major coursework in public administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Two years of experience in a responsible journey-level technical or administrative capacity with data analysis and reporting.
  • Prior government experience is highly desirable.

Job description

The City of Laguna Beach is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Administrative Analyst to provide high-level support to the various maintenance divisions within the Public Works & Utilities Department. This position plays an important role in providing administrative and analytical support, coordinating department initiatives, and helping to improve organizational processes.

What You’ll Do
  • Develops RFPs and bid documents for new contract solicitations
  • Provides high-level support in the management of contracts and procurement processes
  • Coordinates special projects and department events
  • Assists in preparation of the department budget
  • Prepares and administers State and Federal grants, and participates in audits
  • Prepares graphs, charts, PowerPoint presentations, and agenda reports on programs and policies
  • Oversees departments’ records management processes

Any combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to effectively and successfully perform the duties of the position is considered qualifying. A typical combination is as follows:

Education: Graduation from a recognized college or university with major coursework in public administration, business administration, or a field related to Public Works.

Experience: Two (2) years of experience in a responsible journey-level technical or administrative capacity, which include responsibility for compiling and analyzing data, preparing reports, and making recommendations related to business processes and functions. Prior government experience is highly desirable.

This recruitment will establish an eligibility list that may be used to fill future vacancies in the same or lower classifications.
