Job description

At Utah Valley University, you'll be part of a technology team that helps support the systems and services relied upon by students, employees, and campus partners every day. As the IS&T Office Assistant, you'll serve as a key resource and welcoming first point of contact, helping visitors, answering questions, and supporting administrative operations that contribute to the success of the university. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop customer service, communication, and organizational skills while gaining experience in a professional technology environment.

The role provides exposure to higher education operations and information technology services, making it a great fit for individuals who enjoy helping others, staying organized, and working in a collaborative setting. Through a variety of front-desk, administrative, and support responsibilities, you'll build valuable experience while making a meaningful contribution to the campus community and the services that support student and employee success.

  • Greets visitors, directing them to the appropriate person or location. Promptly addresses requests and inquiries in person, digitally, and over the phone. This involves providing clear and accurate information about IS&T. Actively contributes to a welcoming, respectful, and service-centric environment.
  • Performs various routine and assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Keeps precise and detailed records. This includes gathering data, compiling information, taking notes, and preparing reports.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the reception and front desk areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and at least six months of related work experience.
  • Candidates must be available to work part-time during business hours, generally between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with office productivity software, applications, databases, and programs.
  • Knowledge of and experience using standard office equipment.
  • Knowledge of general office organizational protocols and operational guidelines.
  • Skilled in clear and concise communication, both written and verbal.
  • Skilled in attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to foster strong working relationships and engage professionally with people from a wide range of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.
  • Ability to project and demonstrate an approachable, professional, and respectful disposition.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and perform assigned duties with frequent interruptions in an open office atmosphere.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written procedures and instructions.
  • Ability to de-escalate and resolve conflict.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to learn and communicate department policies.
