Description

Provides senior level administrative support to department faculty and staff. Requires working knowledge of institution policies, practices, and procedures. Collects, compiles, and analyzes complex information of a highly confidential nature. Performs special projects of a highly skilled nature. Exercises considerable discretion and independent judgment. May serve as lead worker to lower-level administrative staff in the same department; and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Research, analyzes, and summarizes information and source materials for reports independently and communicates findings orally and in writing.

2. Edits, formats, and reviews a variety of documents and materials created by others. Proofreads for grmmatical, typographical and basic content errors. Converts rough copy and drafts to final version quality reports, presentations, and documents. Includes incorporating edits from multiple reviewers, adding graphics and effects to presentations, and applying campus style guidelines.

3. Identifies problems in a timely manner. Researches and analyzes information effectively and synthesizes reasonably complex and diverse information. Develops alternative and original solutions.

4. Develops, implements, and maintains paper and electronic filing systems which meet department needs and satisfy requirements for retention and information security. Enters, updates, and retrieves information as needed. Independently creates reports as needed.

5. Performs advanced administrative tasks, such as preparing, responding to, and prioritizing correspondence, reports and memos, and responding to telephone calls. Requires working knowledge of institution policies, practices and procedures. Enters data in spreadsheets, prepares statistical reports and creates presentations as requested.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
  • Three to five years related office experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of software used by department
  • Proficiency in MSOffice (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook) is a must. Working knowledge of internet research tools
  • Intermediate level knowledge of WordPress
  • Website development, design or implementation experience is preferred
  • Self-starter and ability to work independently in a dynamic and rapid changing environment.

Total Rewards
The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position.Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
