Job summary

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) is seeking adjunct faculty to teach in the designated discipline. Courses may be conducted face-to-face, remote, and online, with teaching loads based on enrollment and staffing needs.

Adjunct appointments have no guaranteed employment; instructors may teach up to 12 credit hours in fall/spring and up to 8 in summer. Applicants must reside in the DC, VA, MD DMV area and demonstrate commitment to inclusive excellence.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field.
• Prior experience teaching in higher education.
• Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment.
• Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
• Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS.
• Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.
