Job summary

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) invites applications for adjunct faculty in various disciplines. Adjunct postings are pool postings with no guaranteed employment; teaching may be face-to-face, remote, and online.

Adjunct faculty teach up to 12 credit hours in fall/spring and up to 8 in summer, with workloads depending on enrollment. Positions are part-time and paid per credit hour based on rank: Assistant Instructor $819, Instructor $935, Assistant Professor $1,047, Associate

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field or master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours.
• Degree/cert from regionally accredited institution.
• Prior experience teaching in higher education.
• Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats.
• Commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
• Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
• Adhere to NOVA and the VCCS policies and regulations.
• Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field.

Education

Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field or master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field. Qualifying degrees and coursework must be awarded by and/or completed with a regionally accredited institution.
