Job summary

NOVA’s Northern Virginia Community College Alexandria campus seeks Adjunct Faculty - Biology. Faculty teach in-person, hybrid, and online formats, up to 12 credit hours in fall and spring and up to 8 in summer, with assignments based on enrollment and staffing.

Qualifications include a Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field (or a Master’s with 18 graduate hours). Prior higher-ed teaching and a commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in the teaching field. Qualifying degrees and coursework must be awarded by and/or completed with a regionally accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
• Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS.
• Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.
