Job summary

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach PSY and related courses in a part-time capacity. Adjuncts are paid per credit hour based on rank (Instructor $935, Assistant Professor $1,047, Associate Professor $1,160, Professor $1,249) and may teach up to 12 credits in fall/spring or 8 in summer, with load dependent on enrollment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the field with related experience.
• Master’s degree in the field or master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Counseling, Student Development, or related fields.
• Teaching experience – college level teaching experience preferred.
• Experience working with a learning management system (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.)
• Experience teaching in-person and online/asynchronously,
• Experience teaching remotely/synchronously.

Responsibilities

• Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
• Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS.
• Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.
