Job summary

Blue Origin’s Operations team seeks a metal additive manufacturing technician to support AM processing for spaceflight systems, designing build strategies and helping meet the production schedule. You will work with engineers and technicians to ensure safe, repeatable spaceflight and contribute to lowering costs.

The role requires CAD experience with Pro/E/Creo, Materialise Magics, and 3matic, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to document findings in the AM Wiki. U.S.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated track record of resourcefulness, attention-to-detail, and process ownership.
  • Experience with CAD software such as Pro/E/Creo, Materialise Magics, or 3matic.
  • Ability to adhere to rigorous schedule constraints.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare part build files using CAD software (Pro/E or Creo, Materialise Magics, 3matic).
  • Evaluate the build risk
  • Devise successful build strategy
  • Advise and document to RE’s and AE’s of build risk analysis in ITS
  • Advise and document to RE’s and AE’s of build recommended geometry changes needed to lessen the possible build failure.
  • Follow standardized file systems, traceability documentation
  • Meeting both quality and schedule expectations
  • Help to develop new and improved build parameters while not sacrificing the part quality.
  • Rapidly design support structures for printed components taking into account heat input, warpage, surface finish, process efficiency and final requirement conformance
  • Follow a standardized workflow that improves part quality, machine uptime and production throughput
  • Trouble shoot machine issues and document findings in the AM Wiki
  • Contact machine vendors when experiencing machine issues not yet seen before. Document findings in the AM Wiki.
