Job summary

Spring Branch ISD is seeking a Special Education Classroom Specialist to assist students with significant disabilities under a Special Education teacher's guidance. Responsibilities include providing instructional support, ensuring student safety, and following IEP requirements.

Ideal candidates will have at least 48 college hours or a high school diploma, Educational Aide Certification, and experience with children with disabilities, particularly Autism. The position is non-exempt and requires physical capabilities to assist students, including the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Background related to working with children and parents.
• Experience with students with significant disabilities.
• Minimum of one full year supporting students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in executing the instructional program under supervision.
• Gather and analyze data for students' development.
• Provide direct support based on individual education plans (IEPs).

Skills

Knowledge regarding disabilities

Knowledge of working with students with Autism

Ability to assist students in an organized set of activities

Ability to assist with lifting and daily living skills

Trained in de-escalation and restraint techniques

Fluent in English (speaking and writing)

Education

Minimum of 48 college hours or high school diploma/equivalent

Educational Aide Certification

Mandt Training Certification (to be obtained)
