Job summary

Trinity Health’s MercyOne unit in Des Moines, IA, seeks an Acute Care RN to provide safe, evidence-based care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. You will supervise LPNs and aides and coordinate with physicians, families, and the interdisciplinary team.

Applicants must have an Associate degree in nursing with an Iowa RN license; BSN preferred. BLS is required; ACLS if telemetry is used.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license; Illinois license if practicing there may be required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• ACLS required only if unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Conducts an initial assessment within 30 minutes of admission.
• Develops outcomes/goals and plans of care.
• Implements and coordinates plan of care with the care team.
• Reassesses patient progress and updates plans as needed.
• Communicates with physicians, families, and the care team.
• Manages telemetry and cardiac monitoring when applicable.
• Documents discharge instructions and coordinates post-discharge planning.
