Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Dubuque, IA is seeking a Registered Nurse for a full-time night shift (12 hours) on our acute care unit. The RN will provide direct patient care, collaborate with physicians and the care team, and participate in discharge planning and patient education.

The role requires an Associate degree in nursing and Iowa RN licensure; BSN preferred, ACLS/BLS as applicable, and strong critical thinking with good communication and computer skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include an Associate degree in nursing and Iowa RN licensure.
• BSN preferred.
• ACLS required if telemetry monitoring is used; BLS required for all.
• Mandatory Reporter training due within 3 months of hire.
• Strong language, math and critical thinking abilities.
• Basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective, and culturally competent nursing care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using evidence-based practice.
• Coordinate with physicians, patients, families and care teams to meet outcomes.
• Document clearly and communicate effectively with the care team.
• Manage telemetry and other monitoring as applicable.
• Assist with discharge planning and patient education.
