Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join the Acute Care Surgery Team in the Surgical ICU, caring for ICU and PACU patients with daily assessments and care plans. The role requires Adult Acute Care NP or PA-C certification and strong critical care skills. Some weekends/holidays are required.

Shift is 5 p.m.–5 a.m. with 12-hour rotations and incentives include a $20,000 annual stipend and CME allowance.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing with an Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification or graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current APN CRNP certification or PA-C certification.
• BLS certification required; ACLS/PALS may be required.

Responsibilities

• Based on thorough physical and psychosocial patient assessments, formulates and implements comprehensive patient care plans focused on prevention, diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of disease.
• Ensures complete documentation of patient assessments, patient care plans, and care provided.
• Orders and interprets laboratory and other diagnostic tests for the patient.
• Maintains records and reports as required by regulatory agencies and The Joint Commission (TJC). May coordinate and/or participate in performance and quality improvement activities.
• May assist in coordinating research protocols, serving as a patient advocate and liaison between patient and health care providers.
• Provides orientation and training of new clinical personnel and education to patients and staff.
• Serves as the expert clinical resource to the staff and patients in the area of specialty.
• Provides a safe environment for patients and others.
