Job summary
UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL seeks an Experienced Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant to provide medical care for acute cardiovascular surgical patients. Work under collaborating physician, coordinate care, and educate patients and families.
Weekend/Holiday duties apply with potential differential compensation. Required: Master's in Nursing with Adult Acute Care NP or PA certification, AL APN/PA licensure, BLS, and ACLS/PALS as needed.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Nursing with Adult Acute Care NP or PA program completed.
- Current APN/CRNP licensure or PA-C license in Alabama required.
- BLS certification required; ACLS/PALS may be required depending on unit.
Responsibilities
- Assess and treat acute care CV surgical patients under supervising physician.
- Document assessments, plans, and care in medical records.
- Order and interpret labs and diagnostics as needed.
- Coordinate discharge planning and referrals.
- Educate patients and families about care plans and follow-up.
- Support performance improvement activities and quality initiatives.
- Serve as clinical resource to staff and patients.
- Maintain a safe environment and own professional development.
- Assist in training new clinical personnel when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
