Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) for the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NICU) within the Anesthesia Critical Care team. The role focuses on inpatient critical care, performing exams, documenting progress, and coordinating care with neurosurgery and neurology teams.

Rotating holidays, weekend shifts, and opportunities for extra shifts for additional pay. Qualifications include an NP with Adult Acute Care certification or PA-C with board certification; BLS required,

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing with Adult Acute Care NP certification or PA program required (substitution not allowed).
• Active license as APN with CRNP Specialty or PA-C certification; BLS required; ACLS/PALS may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical care within scope to acute care and emergency patients.
• Coordinate plan of care, discharge planning, and referrals.
• Complete comprehensive physical examinations and assess patients.
• Document patient assessments and care plans; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate and participate in performance improvement activities.
• Serve as clinical resource and provide education to staff.
