Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is offering a 10-week summer internship in Massachusetts designed for college students to work on critical business assignments and apply academic knowledge. You will be mentored by leaders and collaborate across teams on a philanthropy-focused project, with weekly development workshops and intern activities.

In this role you will perform quantitative tasks, learn actuarial fundamentals, and use pricing and risk-management tools.

Qualifications

Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
Ability to commit to a full time 10-week internship program.
Ability to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
0-2 years of professional working experience.
Understands fundamental analytical concepts, practices and procedures.
MS Office, Excel and SQL.
Bonus points for R, Python and Power BI.

Responsibilities

Perform tasks of a mathematical and quantitative nature using established procedures.
Learn fundamental actuarial concepts, practices and procedures.
Become familiar with company operations, systems and actuarial methodologies.
Utilize actuarial tools and modeling software for pricing, valuation, and/or risk management.
Analyze industry trends to identify impact on financials, reserves, and pricing processes.
Create and present a final presentation for management and leadership members at the close of the internship program highlighting the work you accomplished throughout the summer.
