Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is offering a 10-week summer internship in Massachusetts designed for college students to work on critical business assignments and apply academic knowledge. You will be mentored by leaders and collaborate across teams on a philanthropy-focused project, with weekly development workshops and intern activities.

In this role you will perform quantitative tasks, learn actuarial fundamentals, and use pricing and risk-management tools.

Qualifications

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
  • Ability to commit to a full time 10-week internship program.
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
  • 0-2 years of professional working experience.
  • Understands fundamental analytical concepts, practices and procedures.
  • MS Office, Excel and SQL.
  • Bonus points for R, Python and Power BI.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks of a mathematical and quantitative nature using established procedures.
  • Learn fundamental actuarial concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Become familiar with company operations, systems and actuarial methodologies.
  • Utilize actuarial tools and modeling software for pricing, valuation, and/or risk management.
  • Analyze industry trends to identify impact on financials, reserves, and pricing processes.
  • Create and present a final presentation for management and leadership members at the close of the internship program highlighting the work you accomplished throughout the summer.

SUMMER INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW:

The Hanover’s Internship Program provides college students with the opportunity to work on a variety of critical business assignments, test your skills, use your academic knowledge, and match your interests to a real job.

Through the 10-week summer program (June – mid August), You will:

  • Take on meaningful projects and work alongside some of the very best talent in the industry
  • Be supported and mentored by a community of exceptional talent (leaders, managers, subject matter experts and recent graduates)
  • Participate in a cross-functional team building project focused on corporate philanthropy
  • Attend weekly development workshops with your intern peers
  • Join in engagement and social activities with other interns

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this role may vary based on geographic location and other factors, including merit or performance, demonstrated proficiency, skills for the role, education, travel requirements, and experience. Additional compensation may include an annual bonus (which could take the form of a general bonus, sales incentive, or short-term incentive), long-term incentive or spot recognition awards. The posted range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
