Job summary

Venerable is seeking a Financial Planning and Analysis Actuarial Manager to join the Controllership team, focusing on actuarial analysis and financial reporting. You will collaborate with actuaries across Finance and Risk to improve analytics and reporting quality.

You will lead a team, drive process improvements, and partner with stakeholders to explain the story behind results and ensure regulatory and internal requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance or related discipline.
• FSA or Career ASA designation required.
• 7+ years financial, insurance industry, or actuarial experience.
• Excellent analytical skills and deep knowledge of insurance products, regulations, or insurance company structure.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts across audiences; internally and externally.
• Ability to challenge current methodologies and develop solutions; manage priorities and deadlines.
• Managerial experience required: lead, coach and advise team members.
• Willingness to grow and gain expertise in related areas such as accounting standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assist with monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for key stakeholders.
• Collaborate with business partners to improve analytics and timeliness; explain the story behind results.
• Evaluate financial models to better compare actual results.
• Streamline financial data processes.
• Support technology initiatives to improve efficiency and control of analytics.
• Lead and develop the team through goal setting and feedback.
• Assist accounting teams with state insurance department and regulatory requests on financial projections.
• Lead corporate projects that support company strategy.
