Job summary

Hy-Vee Inc. is seeking a Courtesy Clerk to assist customers from checkout to their vehicle, keep the store clean, stocked, and welcoming. You will package purchases, help cart customers, and maintain a neat front-end area.

No formal education required; training will be provided. The role involves standing, walking, stocking, and assisting in multiple store areas as needed. This is an hourly, on-site position with a strong emphasis on teamwork and customer service.

Qualifications

• Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables.
• Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
• Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
• Work effectively as part of a team to keep the store clean and customers happy.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and going out of your way to make every visit a great one
• Package customer purchases and assist customers in transporting them to their mode of transportation
• Bring carts in from the parking lot and cart corrals throughout your shift
• Clean registers, restrooms, the break room, and the backroom, and sweep and mop floors as needed
• Stock, face, and rotate merchandise, clean shelves, understand shelf tags, and know the location of merchandise in the store and backroom
• Check prices on products as needed
• Maintain front end supplies including paper and plastic bags, receipt paper, and other necessary items
• Help train new courtesy clerks
• Deliver product to customers and assist in all departments as requested within wage and hour guidelines
• Shovel, salt, and sand walkways as needed
• Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
• Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy‑Vee policies and store guidelines
• Report to work when scheduled and on time
