Job description

This is a role for a technically confident accountant who's ready to take genuine ownership of a mixed client portfolio, lead on complex compliance work, and support the development of those around them.

Our client is a well-regarded accountancy practice looking for an Accounts Associate Manager to join their team. You'll work closely with Associate Directors, take the lead on preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and corporation tax computations, and be a key point of support for Senior Associates and junior colleagues alike.

If you thrive in a structured practice environment, enjoy solving complex technical problems, and take pride in delivering high-quality work, this is a strong next step.

What you'll be doing
  • Preparing advanced statutory financial statements and corporation tax computations for a portfolio that spans both straightforward and complex clients, including sole traders, partnerships, LLPs, and limited companies
  • Reviewing accounts and tax files prepared by Senior Associates, Associates, and wider team members, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and a high standard of accuracy
  • Developing a thorough understanding of each client's business in order to deliver a tailored service and identify opportunities to add further value
  • Drafting technical solutions for review and approval by managers or Associate Directors, ensuring work is delivered on time and within budget
  • Proactively flagging issues or risks early, updating system workflows, and seeking feedback to continuously improve quality and reduce review points
  • Liaising with clients directly to ensure timely receipt of information and supporting client meetings where required
  • Coaching and supporting team members at all levels, contributing to their ongoing training and professional development
  • Contributing to business development activity, including engagement with marketing channels and identifying referral opportunities
What we're looking for
  • ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
  • A minimum of three years' experience working within an accountancy practice
  • Solid working knowledge of UK GAAP and statutory compliance requirements across a range of entity types
  • Proficiency in accounting and tax software, including Xero, Sage 50, QuickBooks, and Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt your style for both clients and internal teams
  • A logical, methodical approach to problem-solving and client issue management
  • Well-organised, with a thorough and accurate approach to your own workload
  • A commitment to ongoing CPD and staying current with developments in your field
  • Flexible and professional in your approach to change
Nice to have
  • Experience reviewing work prepared by offshore or distributed teams
  • Exposure to business development activity within a practice setting
  • Experience contributing to process improvement initiatives

Our client is committed to supporting your long-term growth. You can expect a structured progression plan from day one, with clear guidance on how you'll develop within the firm and what support will be in place to help you get there. There is a genuine focus on learning and development, with investment in your future built into the culture of the team.
