We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor to join a stable, well-established organization with a long-tenured accounting team. This is a hands‑on player‑coach opportunity for someone who enjoys both managing a small team and actively working within the AP function.
The AP Supervisor will oversee a team of four AP professionals while remaining involved in day‑to‑day accounts payable operations. The ideal candidate is independent, motivated, tech‑savvy, and comfortable taking ownership of processes while identifying opportunities for improvement and automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a team of four Accounts Payable professionals while remaining hands‑on with daily AP functions.
- Oversee 1099 preparation, review, corrections, and filing.
- Set up, review, and maintain leases and related documentation.
- Manage new vendor setup and vendor information updates.
- Set up and verify ACH payments for employees and vendors.
- Process and review a mid‑to‑high volume of invoices, including both automated and manual processes.
- Manage check runs and ACH files, including bank submission and release.
- Handle voids, garnishments, ACH returns, positive pay, and uncashed check research.
- Assist with AP data entry and invoice processing as needed.
- Troubleshoot discrepancies and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Cross‑train team members and help maintain consistent AP processes.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate manual processes.
- Partner with internal teams and vendors to resolve AP‑related questions and issues.
- Provide day‑to‑day guidance, coaching, and support to the AP team.
Qualifications
- 5–7+ years of Accounts Payable experience preferred; candidates with a minimum of 2–3 years of strong AP experience may be considered for the right opportunity.
- Prior supervisory or management experience preferred, but strong individual contributors ready to take the next step are encouraged to apply.
- Experience with 1099s is required.
- Lease/accounting experience is a strong plus but not required.
- Comfortable working in a mid‑to‑high‑volume AP environment.
