Job summary

Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Accountant to own the AP function within our Finance team. This hybrid, exempt role works four days per week in the Oakland office at 2619 Broadway, CA 94612, balancing vendor payments, policy compliance, and internal controls.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of AP experience, proficiency in ERP systems and Excel, and a strong grasp of 1099 compliance, month-end close, and audits while supporting

Qualifications

• Degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of AP experience in corporate or construction environments.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems; Sage construction accounting is a plus.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and AP management.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end accounts payable with supervision and proper approvals.
• Review invoices, check requests, and expense reports for compliance.
• Maintain vendor master file, onboarding, banking changes documentation.
• Perform monthly AP reconciliations to GL, vendor statements, and credit card accounts.
• Lead AP portion of month-end and year-end close; prepare accruals and prepaids.
• Assist with audits and grant/funder reviews; respond to auditors.
