Job summary

FMI – The Food Industry Association in Arlington, VA, seeks an Accounts Payable Assistant for a hybrid role. You will process vendor invoices, ensure proper coding, and support 1099 reporting and tax compliance within the Accounting team.

The position emphasizes accuracy, timely processing, and collaboration with vendors and internal teams. Candidates should have 1–2 years in a similar role, experience with a computerized accounting system, and strong Excel/Word/Access skills.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of relevant work experience in AP or related field.
• Experience with a computerized accounting system.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
• Strong communication and customer service orientation.
• Self-directed with time and project management skills and ability to organize multiple tasks with detail orientation.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices with proper coding, documentation and payment amount.
• Review invoices for sales/use tax compliance and 1099 reporting.
• Facilitate vendor onboarding (tax and banking forms).
• Assist with vendor conflict resolution.
• Maintain A/P invoice tracking and vendor files.
• Assist with monthly reconciliations.
