Palomar Holdings, Inc. in San Diego, CA is hiring an Accounts Payable Specialist to support high-volume AP activities, from invoice processing to 1099 preparation.

You will partner with internal teams and vendors to ensure accurate coding, timely payments, and clean vendor records in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of AP experience, a solid understanding of AP and GL processes, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of Accounts Payable or related accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of AP processes, GL accounting, and financial statements.
• Experience reconciling vendor statements and resolving discrepancies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
• On-site work Monday–Thursday (4 days/week).

Responsibilities

• Process a high volume of operating, premium accounting, refund, and commission requests, including voids and reissues.
• Manage high-volume vendor profile updates, including callback verifications for new vendors and changes to existing vendor information.
• Monitor the Accounts Payable mailbox throughout the day and respond to requests from internal teams and external vendors.
• Obtain appropriate account coding and approvals and accurately enter vendor invoices into the AP system.
• Process and apply AP payments in a timely and accurate manner and reconcile vendor statements.
• Support accounting activities across multiple lines of business and business partners, utilizing established templates and processes.
• Perform CMA quarterly vendor reviews, escheatment activities, Positive Pay file reviews, and PLMRAP AP reconciliations.
• Prepare year-end 1099s and support related year-end AP activities.
• Prepare the daily cash report and assist with ongoing cash and payment-related processes.
• Support month-end close activities, including AP processing, reconciliations, and responding to AP-related queries.
• Maintain organized AP records, including filing processed AP payments weekly.
• Research and resolve invoice, payment, vendor, and account discrepancies in partnership with vendors and internal team members.
• Assist with additional administrative tasks, accounting projects, and special assignments as needed.
