Job summary

Aston Carter in Painesville, OH is seeking a Staff Accountant to take full ownership of accounts payable and related tasks in an onsite office setting.

You will process invoices, ensure three-way matches, coordinate with Receiving, Operations, and Procurement, and support the month-end close. This contract-to-hire role offers growth and GAAP exposure.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s in accounting/finance and up to 3 years of AP experience, with strong Excel and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 0–3 years of experience in accounts payable or accounting preferred.
• Hands-on experience with AP processes, including invoice processing and reconciliations.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Own all accounts payable activities and drive process improvements.
• Process vendor invoices using three-way matching for validation and approval.
• Collaborate with Receiving, Operations and Procurement to validate receipts and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare and execute weekly payment runs (checks, ACH, wires).
• Manage vendor relationships and respond to inquiries promptly.
• Monitor AP aging and optimize cash flow.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure proper invoice coding and GAAP alignment.
• Support month-end close with accruals and reconciliations.
• Maintain internal controls and ownership of responsibilities.
