Job summary

BHcare is a nonprofit organization serving Connecticut communities, seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join the Finance team. You will process high-volume AP invoices, ensure proper coding, and manage timely payments from our North Haven location.

Candidates must reside in Connecticut. An Associate degree in Accounting with at least two years of experience is required, along with proficiency in Excel and strong organizational skills to handle confidential information.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Accounting or related field with at least two years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and experience with computerized accounting systems.
• Ability to manage a high volume of transactions while maintaining accuracy and deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365, particularly Excel, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills with handling confidential financial information.

Responsibilities

• Process high-volume accounts payable invoices with accurate coding and approvals.
• Prepare weekly check runs and ACH payments, and support banking activities.
• Enter journal entries and assist with month-end closing activities.
• Research and resolve vendor inquiries and reconcile statements.
• Prepare mileage reimbursements, manage petty cash and deposits logs.
• Assist with audits and provide cross-functional finance support.
