Aston Carter is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist for a contract-to-hire role in Eldridge, IA. You will handle AP processes, vendor invoicing, and payments in an on-site office environment, supporting month-end close and internal controls.

The role requires 3+ years in AP or general accounting, strong Excel/ERP skills, and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality. The position offers competitive hourly pay and benefits as described in the posting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in Accounting or Business; Bachelors degree preferred.
• Three (3) or more years of Accounts Payable or general accounting experience.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices accurately and timely using the company’s ERP system.
• Perform three-way match verification (PO, receiving docs, and invoice).
• Review, validate, and process high-volume invoices per policy and controls.
• Monitor and capture early payment discount opportunities when applicable.
• Facilitate vendor payments including ACH, wire transfers, and checks.
• Verify vendor banking and payment information to prevent fraud and ensure internal controls.
• Record and distribute petty cash per procedures.
• Reconcile employee expense reports and ensure policy compliance.
• Maintain vendor files including W-9s, ACH authorizations, and tax IDs.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Communicate professionally with vendors and address inquiries.
• Answer and direct incoming calls professionally and represent the company.
• Maintain AP ledgers and assist with month-end close and accruals.
• Assist with 1099 reporting and audit support.
• Maintain organized records per retention policies.
• Support internal/external auditors with documentation and details.
• Ensure segregation of duties and internal controls.
