Qualifications

• Two-year degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience in an accounting environment with specific experience in accounts payable, 2-5 years preferred.
• Ability to multi-task and complete tasks within a deadline in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and computerized accounting systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Applicant must pay careful attention to detail and demonstrate strong organizational skills.
• Applicant must be able to multitask, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive attitude.
• Construction industry experience preferred.
• Experience working with New York State sales tax preferred.

Responsibilities

• Processes check requests, garnishments, and tax payments, ensuring all appropriate approvals have been received.
• Reviews invoice to insure sales tax compliance.
• Communicates with co-workers, management, clients, and others regarding purchases.
• Reviews all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
• Prints and obtains signatures on all accounts payable checks.
• Distributes signed checks as required.
• Responds to all vendor inquiries.
• Maintains all accounts payable reports, spreadsheets and corporate accounts payable files.
• Assists corporate financial officers and branch personnel as necessary.
• Prepares cleared checks for storage
• Assists in monthly closings
• Prepares analysis of accounts, as required
• Performs filing and coping
