Job summary

B’nai Jeshurun, located on the Upper West Side of New York, is seeking a Staff Accountant to manage accounts payable and bi-weekly payroll. The role reports to the Director of Finance and requires precision, discretion with confidential information, and strong teamwork.

The position is full-time on-site with competitive compensation and benefits, including employer-sponsored health plans, retirement options, and generous paid time off. Salary range $75,000–$85,000 annually.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of accounts payable and payroll processing experience.
• ADP experience required; Sage Intacct experience preferred.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management.
• Clear written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable: code invoices, confirm approvals, reconcile vendor statements, resolve discrepancies.
• Manage weekly check runs and prepare ACH and wire payments.
• Process bi-weekly payroll, review timesheets, attendance, and PTO.
• Reconcile payroll taxes, support year-end W-2 reporting, and answer payroll questions.
• Review posting of payroll, payroll taxes, and deductions; assist with month-end close and audits.
