Job summary

LHH is assisting a long-time transportation and logistics client in Indianapolis seeking an Accounts Payable Manager to oversee all AP functions, including carrier payments and vendor invoices. You will ensure timely, accurate payments and support month-end close with strong controls and process discipline.

Lead a team of 5 FTE and up to 5 seasonal staff, optimize AP workflows, implement improvements, and maintain vendor records. A hybrid work schedule is offered along with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years’ Accounts Payable Manager experience.
• Proficient in Excel and MS Office products.
• Experience with ERP systems (Sage Intacct a plus).
• Ability to implement and enforce policy in a respectful, customer-service oriented manner.
• Experience documenting and improving processes and procedures.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily AP operations and supervise 5 full-time and up to 5 seasonal staff.
• Ensure timely processing of carrier and vendor invoices.
• Monitor AP aging and prioritize payments based on cash flow.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues.
• Maintain vendor records and 1099 reporting.
• Monitor system for duplicate payments and fraudulent invoice activity.
• Optimize AP workflows through automation.
• Develop SOPs and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Participate in month-end close activity, ensuring AP aging reconciles to GL.

The AP Manager is responsible for overseeing all accounts payable functions, including carrier payments, vendor invoice processing, and payment controls. This role ensures timely and accurate payments while maintaining compliance with company policies and supporting month-end close activities.
