Job summary

Opportunity Council in Whatcom County is seeking an Accounts Payable Associate III to join our Fiscal Department. This in-office role handles grant accounting and accounts payable tasks, ensuring accurate data entry, timely payments, and compliance with funder requirements.

Work schedule is Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm, with no remote options. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities to grow within a mission-driven organization serving our community.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent.
• Two years related postsecondary education preferred.
• One year of related experience at a minimum.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of regular, recurring, and moderately complex accounting functions related to grant accounting and accounts payable.
• Manages data submitted through electronic Purchase Order module ensuring complete and accurate data before posting to accounting system.
• Assists in interpreting vendor accounts and records.
• Serves as part of the Fiscal Department team and acts in a lead role for timely entry and payment of rental assistance requests.
• Performs delivery and pick-up of fiscal materials locally.
• Maintains confidentiality of sensitive accounting information.
• Prepares check run, ensuring that all payments are processed in a timely manner to meet required deadlines.
• Establishes strong working relationships with service center staff and outside providers and vendors.
• Ensures records and documents are filed properly and maintained in a confidential environment.
