Extension, Inc. is seeking an organized Accounting Specialist to support daily accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting activities. This role offers hands-on experience in a growing manufacturing environment undergoing ERP system enhancements.

The position emphasizes accurate processing, strong attention to detail, and teamwork, with opportunities to contribute to process improvements and cross-functional collaboration as the ERP project progresses.

Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles.
• Knowledge of accounts payable and/or accounts receivable processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices and verify accuracy against purchase orders, receiving documents, and approvals.
• Enter invoices into the ERP system and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Process vendor credits, outside service invoices, and vendor payments.
• Maintain vendor records, W-9 documentation, and new vendor setups.
• Review vendor statements and assist with 1099 reporting.
• Process customer invoices and verify pricing, shipping, freight, and billing accuracy.
• Apply customer payments, including ACH, wire transfers, checks, and credit cards.
• Assist with collections and follow up on past-due accounts.
• Research payment discrepancies and resolve customer billing issues.
• Maintain accurate customer accounts and supporting documentation.
• Assist with month-end close activities and account reconciliations.
• Review accounts payable and receivable aging reports.
• Support audits and requests for financial documentation.
• Assist with ERP implementation, system improvements, and accounting process enhancements.
• Provide backup support for other accounting functions as needed.
