Job summary

Addison Group in Vienna, VA is seeking an Accounting Specialist for a hybrid role (on-site 4 days, 1 remote day per week). The position is temp-to-perm with a pay range of $35–$40 per hour and potential conversion to $80k–$85k annually.

40 hours per week and eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits. The role focuses on monthly close, GL maintenance, journal entries, account reconciliations, and AP activities, with an emphasis on FAR, CAS, and GAAP.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required.
• Strong general ledger and month-end close experience required.
• Government contracting accounting experience required.

Responsibilities

• Play a hands-on role in the monthly close process and help ensure close activities are completed accurately and on time
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting documentation
• Analyze account balances and investigate financial activity as needed
• Manage day-to-day accounts payable activities
• Review invoices for accuracy, appropriate coding, and compliance with company policies
• Ensure accounting transactions comply with applicable government contracting requirements
• Apply knowledge of FAR, CAS, and GAAP to accounting activities and financial processes
• Support financial reporting and other accounting initiatives as needed
• Work closely with the Controller and Financial Analyst on accounting and finance priorities
• Assist across multiple accounting functions based on business needsMaintain accurate, compliant, and audit-ready financial records
• Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and operate effectively with minimal supervision

Compensation: $35 – $40 / hour; approximately $80,000 on conversion with flexibility up to $85,000
