Addison Group is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant in Sterling, VA. The hybrid role starts on-site with flexibility for 1 day remote after training, supporting multiple projects with billing, job costing, and financial reporting.

The position requires 3+ years on project accounting, experience with lump sum, cost-plus and GMP billing, strong Excel skills, and excellent communication. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.

Compensation: $75,000 - $100,000 annually

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support the financial management and accounting activities of multiple projects. This position will oversee project billing, job costing, financial analysis, and compliance while partnering closely with project management and other internal teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze monthly project billings in accordance with contractual requirements, including lump sum, cost-plus, and GMP billing.
• Monitor project costs against budgets, perform reconciliations, and analyze project financial performance and profitability.
• Maintain accurate job costing records and prepare project status, budget, and performance reports.
• Manage project-related documentation and vendor compliance, including Certificates of Insurance, lien waivers, bonds, W-9s, and retention.
• Identify, research, and resolve project accounting discrepancies and issues in a timely manner.
• Partner with Project Managers and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to support financial accuracy, risk management, and timely reporting.
• Maintain accurate project information and ensure financial data is properly documented and updated.
• Assist with process improvements and other accounting projects as needed.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of project accounting experience, preferably within a project-based environment.
• Experience with lump sum, cost-plus, and GMP billing required.
• Familiarity with project documentation and compliance requirements, including insurance, lien waivers, bonds, and vendor documentation.
• Strong accounting and financial analysis skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
