Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze financial statements, ledgers, reconciliations, and associated accounts.
  • Perform monthly close activities, including reviewing and monitoring entries to the Trial Balance, Balance Sheet, and Income Statement accounts, and posting adjustments.
  • Conduct account reconciliation, analytics, and variance analysis, providing sufficient supporting documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and ASC in the preparation of financial statements.
  • Identify and recommend solutions for incorrect applications of GAAP/ASC.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis to identify and resolve discrepancies, contributing to quality control and process improvement.
  • Investigate and resolve complex discrepancies, data entry errors, and out-of-balance situations.
  • Perform research and respond to inquiries from internal and external auditors.
  • Generate variance analysis reports and provide associated justification.
  • Apply broad and specialized knowledge of financial accounting and management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Accountant to perform accounting activities including the review and analysis of financial statements, ledgers, reconciliations, and associated accounts to ensure accurate application of industry standards. You will be responsible for monthly close activities, account reconciliation, analytics, variance analysis, and providing sufficient supporting documentation. This role requires a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Accounting Standard Codification (ASC).

Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze financial statements, ledgers, reconciliations, and associated accounts.
  • Perform monthly close activities, including reviewing and monitoring entries to the Trial Balance, Balance Sheet, and Income Statement accounts, and posting adjustments.

Essential Skills

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Five years of progressive and relevant experience.
  • Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with high accuracy.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with general ledger, reconciliation, month-end processes, journal entries, balance sheets, bank reconciliation, variance analysis, income statements, public accounting, and Big 4 accounting.
  • Experience in the banking or financial services industry.
  • Skills in executive summaries, income statements, reconciliations, audits, pivot tables, Oracle, VLOOKUP, investment, banking, internal and external audits, and financial statements.
  • Experience with handling complex accounting and loans.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vienna, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
