Job summary

Addison Group in Vienna, VA is seeking an Accounting Specialist for a hybrid, temp-to-perm role. The position offers a 40-hour work week with on-site Monday through Thursday and one remote day weekly, and compensation of $35–$40 per hour, with potential conversion to about $80,000–$85,000 annually.

You will drive the monthly close, maintain the general ledger, prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals, and oversee accounts payable.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required.
• Strong general ledger and month-end close experience required.
• Government contracting accounting experience required.

Responsibilities

• Play a hands-on role in the monthly close process and help ensure close activities are completed accurately and on time.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting documentation.
• Analyze account balances and investigate financial activity as needed.
• Manage day-to-day accounts payable activities.
• Review invoices for accuracy, appropriate coding, and compliance with company policies.
• Ensure accounting transactions comply with applicable government contracting requirements.
• Apply knowledge of FAR, CAS, and GAAP to accounting activities and financial processes.
• Support financial reporting and other accounting initiatives as needed.
• Work closely with the Controller and Financial Analyst on accounting and finance priorities.
• Maintain accurate, compliant, and audit-ready financial records.
• Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and operate effectively with minimal supervision.
