Accounting Manager
ProspectBlue is partnering with a well-established company in Richmond, VA, to identify a motivated and detail-focused Accounting Manager. This individual will play an important role in supporting the organization’s financial operations by promoting accuracy, efficiency, and strong organization across a variety of accounting functions.
The successful candidate will be analytical, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment. They will also demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities

- Oversee and review accounting activity across balance sheet and operating accounts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established controls.
- Prepare, review, and maintain timely general ledger entries and account reconciliations while collaborating with other departments.
- Assist with financial consolidation and reporting across multiple entities, brands, and locations.
- Provide support for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes.
- Participate in external audits and contribute directly to the development and enhancement of internal accounting controls.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall effectiveness of the Accounting Department.
- Help train and support team members regarding accounting procedures, systems, and industry best practices.
- Maintain well-organized accounting documentation, templates, records, and systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with 4-5 years of experience in accounting, finance, consulting, or another analytical discipline.
- Solid understanding of GAAP, financial statements, and core accounting principles.
- Demonstrated professionalism, ethical judgment, and integrity, with the ability to appropriately manage confidential and sensitive information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, as well as experience working with ERP systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing responsibilities, meet deadlines, and adjust effectively within a fast-paced construction setting.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with a strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, confident, curious, and eager to learn new skills and apply them effectively.
- Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic, reliable transportation, and the flexibility to work additional hours when business needs require.
