Job description

Our client, a well-established and growing financial institution, is looking to add an Accounting Manager to its Operations Accounting team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys owning complex accounting processes, partnering with multiple business units, and helping improve how accounting supports a growing organization. The individual in this role will oversee a variety of operational accounting functions while leading the month-end close process, strengthening internal controls, and helping drive process improvements through automation and technology. This position offers broad exposure across the organization and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact as new products, systems, and initiatives are introduced.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Oversee accounting and month-end close activities across several operational accounting areas.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet analyses to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and provide meaningful insight to management.
  • Manage accounting related to areas such as investments, funding activities, cash management, leases, fixed assets, software development costs, prepaid expenses, foreign currency transactions, and other operational banking products.
  • Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with business leaders on new products, system implementations, and operational initiatives to ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Support internal and external audits while serving as a key resource for financial reporting and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows through automation and process improvements.
  • Lead special projects and cross-functional initiatives as the organization continues to grow.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • CPA or MBA is highly preferred.
  • Five or more years of progressive accounting experience within public accounting, banking, financial services, or a publicly traded company.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control best practices.
  • Experience leading month-end close and managing complex balance sheet accounts.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with leadership and build relationships across multiple departments.
  • Previous banking or financial services experience is a plus, but candidates with strong technical accounting backgrounds from other regulated environments will also be considered.
Why This Opportunity?

This role offers far more than traditional month-end accounting. You'll have the opportunity to influence accounting operations, partner with business leaders on strategic initiatives, improve processes through automation, and help shape the accounting function within a stable, growing financial institution. It's an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into a visible leadership role with long‑term growth potential.
