Job summary

High Country Search Group is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead the general ledger close, payroll, and internal controls in a growing finance team in Colorado.

You will mentor staff, partner with cross-functional teams, and drive process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency across accounting operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership.
• Experience with ERP systems and accounting optimization.
• Experience processing payroll.
• Credible experience managing general ledger accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and internal controls.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the monthly accounting close process, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financials.
• Manage general ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, prepaids, reconciliations, and account analysis.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.
• Administer payroll processing and reconcile accounts.
• Coordinate sales and use tax filings and annual 1099 reporting.
• Support SOX compliance activities, maintain internal controls, and identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes.
• Partner with internal teams and external auditors to provide requested documentation and support.
• Supervise and mentor staff by reviewing work, providing guidance, and supporting professional development.
• Serve as a SME of the ERP system, helping optimize workflows.
• Recommend and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
