Segrera Associates seeks a hands-on Accounting Manager to lead the accounting and finance function for a growing business unit with strong corporate support. This role sits as a Controller-like position within a multi-company organization, focusing on close processes and accurate reporting.

You will partner with operational leadership, drive GAAP compliance, develop controls, mentor staff, and support system implementations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA designation preferred but not required.
• Progressive accounting experience with increasing responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Experience mentoring accounting staff.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

• Experience with project accounting or multi-location operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
• Develop and maintain financial reporting packages and analytical tools.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
• Oversee project accounting activities and review estimates to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Manage and develop an accounting team, including senior and staff-level accountants, while providing oversight of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Monitor customer collections and vendor payments while maintaining strong business relationships.
• Partner with operational, sales, and administrative teams to support business objectives and improve financial performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and increase operational efficiency.
• Support ongoing system implementations and accounting transformation initiatives.
• Prepare audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors and advisors.
• Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

This role functions similarly to a Controller position within a smaller operating company while benefiting from the resources and support of a much larger organization.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable balancing day-to-day accounting responsibilities with process improvement initiatives.
