Job summary

Bluewater Hayes Inc. in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations in a hands-on role close to the business.

You will manage month-end close, prepare financial statements, and support purchasing and operational needs. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in manufacturing accounting, strong GL and reporting skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent) is preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
• Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership in a hands-on environment.
• Comfortable with changing priorities and multi-hat roles.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Manufacturing accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with Plex ERP is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage the company’s day-to-day accounting operations.
• Oversee the month-end close process and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy and integrity of accounting records.
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reports.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions; support purchasing activities.
• Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts and other general ledger accounts.
• Support payroll processing and other administrative accounting functions as needed.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
• Support purchasing activities, including purchase orders and vendor coordination.
• Monitor expenses and assist with cost tracking and analysis.
• Maintain appropriate accounting controls and processes.
• Collaborate with President and leadership on financial and operational matters.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting.

Our client is a growing small to mid size manufacturing company seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the company’s day to day accounting operations. This is a hands on role for someone who enjoys being close to the business and taking ownership of the accounting function.

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing the month end close process, preparing financial reporting, and supporting various operational functions including purchasing. This individual will work closely with the President and play an important role in providing accurate financial information to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month end close processes
• Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements

• Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
• Comfortable working in a hands on environment where priorities can change quickly
• Strong communication and problem solving skills
• Manufacturing accounting experience strongly preferred
• Experience with Plex ERP is a plus
