Job summary

Princeton Search Partners is recruiting a hands-on Accounting Manager for a leading building materials manufacturer. You will own the full manufacturing accounting cycle, reconciling accounts, leading month-end close, and ensuring operations data feeds accurately into the general ledger.

Reporting to the CEO, you will manage a lean finance team across multiple U.S. facilities, partner with plant managers, strengthen internal controls, and mentor junior staff while staying immersed in day-to-day

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years progressive accounting experience in manufacturing or production.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, general ledger, reconciliations, and financial statement prep.
• Hands-on experience leading manufacturing month-end close.
• Experience supervising accounting staff.
• Understanding how inventory and plant activity impact financial statements.
• Comfortable in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment.
• Ability to operate both in the accounting office and on the plant floor.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full month-end close including journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and reporting.
• Own the general ledger and oversee AP, AR, cash application, reconciliations, and payroll interfaces.
• Manage complex balance sheet and sub-ledger reconciliations.
• Strengthen internal controls and improve transactional processes.
• Partner with Plant Managers to reflect inventory, production, scrap, purchasing, and sales activity.
• Monitor AR aging, vendor terms, reconciliations, and other working-capital drivers.
• Troubleshoot ERP accounting issues and improve processes.
• Coach and develop junior accounting staff while remaining hands-on.

Job description

My client, a leading building materials manufacturer, is looking for a hands-on Accounting Manager who knows manufacturing accounting from the ground up.

This is not a role for someone who wants to review reports from a distance. We’re looking for an accounting leader who is comfortable getting into the details—reconciling accounts, troubleshooting sub-ledger issues, managing month-end close, working through AP/AR challenges, and making sure operational activity flows accurately into the general ledger.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll serve as the primary financial leader supporting three U.S. manufacturing facilities and lead a lean accounting team.

What You’ll Own

• Lead the full month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and financial reporting
• Own the general ledger and oversee AP, AR, cash application, bank reconciliations, and payroll interfaces
• Manage complex balance sheet and sub-ledger reconciliations
• Strengthen internal controls and improve transactional accounting processes
• Partner directly with Plant Managers to ensure inventory, production, scrap, purchasing, and sales activity are accurately reflected financially
• Monitor AR aging, vendor terms, reconciliations, and other working-capital drivers
• Troubleshoot ERP accounting issues and improve processes
• Coach and develop junior accounting staff while remaining willing to jump in and do the work yourself

Ideal Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience within manufacturing, distribution, or another production environment
• Strong understanding of GAAP, general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, trial balances, and financial statement preparation
• Hands-on experience leading manufacturing month-end close
• Understanding of how inventory and plant activity impact the financial statements
• Experience supervising and mentoring accounting staff
• Comfortable working in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment
• Able to operate equally well in the accounting office and alongside operations on the plant floor
