About The Role
The role owns the monthly close and general ledger for a high-growth technology company, ensuring financial statements are accurate, GAAP-compliant, and delivered on schedule. This includes complex areas like revenue recognition (ASC 606), stock-based compensation, accruals, and intercompany accounting. The role matters because it underpins every downstream decision — from board reporting to audit readiness. You will drive SOX compliance, support SEC reporting deliverables, and build scalable processes that keep pace with the company's growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis across cash, prepaid, accrued liabilities, and equity accounts
- Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with US GAAP for internal and external stakeholders
- Drive SOX 404 compliance: maintain control documentation, coordinate walkthroughs and testing, and remediate deficiencies with process owners
- Support quarterly and annual SEC reporting, including drafting footnotes and technical memos for complex transactions (ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 350)
- Partner with FP&A, revenue, and legal teams to ensure accurate accounting for contracts, SaaS billing, and capitalization decisions
- Manage and develop 1-2 direct reports, reviewing their work and building close automation and process improvements
- Coordinate external audits, including PBC request lists, fieldwork logistics, and timely resolution of auditor comments
What We Are Looking For
- 5-8 years of accounting experience, including public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) and/or technical accounting roles at a public or high-growth private company
- Deep knowledge of US GAAP, with hands-on experience applying ASC 606, ASC 842, and business combinations (ASC 805)
- Practical SOX compliance experience — designing, documenting, or testing internal controls over financial reporting
- CPA (active or in progress) and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Advanced Excel skills and hands-on experience with a major ERP (NetSuite, Workday, SAP, or Oracle) and close-management tools (BlackLine, FloQast, or similar)
- Proven ability to manage competing deadlines during close while maintaining accuracy and audit readiness
- Bonus: SaaS or technology industry experience, IPO-readiness exposure, and familiarity with SQL or data-warehouse tools for reconciliations
